How we compute it
Formula
distance = (liquidation price − mark) ÷ mark- Liquidation price from the last poll of the position (Hyperliquid clearinghouseState), mark from the latest market sample (30 seconds).
- The “near liquidation” watch lists positions of $100k or more within the chosen distance.
How to read it
- Small distances on large positions are the ones that could add forced orders soon if the price moves that way.
Common mistakes
- Treating the liquidation price as fixed. Adding margin moves it away; for cross-margin accounts other positions move it too.
Honest limits
- The liquidation price changes when margin is added or removed, and for cross-margin positions when other positions move.
Questions and answers
Why did a position’s liquidation price change without a trade?
The liquidation price depends on the margin behind the position. Adding or removing margin moves it, and for cross-margin accounts a move in another position of the same account does too.
