Whale stops and take-profits

Hyperliquid order books are public per wallet.

Definition

Hyperliquid order books are public per wallet. Blockmetric reads the open trigger orders of the largest tracked wallets and maps where their stops and take-profits sit.

In one sentence: Stop orders sit in the order book until the price reaches their trigger; then they sell (or buy) at market. Many stops at one price can push the price further once it gets there.

In one sentence: Take-profit order: closes a position once the price reaches a target in its favour.

How we compute it

Formula

level (bucket) = Σ USD of the open trigger orders with a trigger price in the bucket, read within the last 3 hours
  • frontendOpenOrders on a slow rotation: by default the 150 largest wallets by open notional with fewer than 20 open positions (books quoting dozens of coins are market makers), each about every 40 minutes.
  • Prices are trigger prices; sell orders sit where longs would exit (usually below the price), buy orders where shorts would. Orders read within the last 3 hours count.

How to read it

  • A dense group of stops at one price is where forced selling (or buying) would add to a move once triggered.
  • Compare it with the liquidation clusters near the same price.

Common mistakes

  • Treating the stop map as complete. It holds the trigger orders of about 150 large wallets, read in rotation, not of every trader.

Honest limits

  • Only these wallets and only the main dex, not the whole market.
  • Orders can be moved or cancelled at any time.

Questions and answers

How fresh are the whale stop orders?
