Summary
The Verus-Ethereum bridge was exploited on 2026-05-17, and after some asset recovery the Verus network lost about 26.6% of the ETH and tBTC held in its Ethereum contract. A later Verus release adjusted affected balances and set out a plan to restore full backing over time.
